Old Fashioned

The old-fashioned is one of the most popular bourbon cocktails. Every bartender and home mixologist has their own unique way of making this classic mixed drink.
Yield: serves 1

Ingredients

  • 2-4 sugar cubes
  • 2-3 drops of Angostura aromatic bitters
  • orange slice
  • 2 oz (4 Tbsp) bourbon, whiskey, or rye of choice
  • orange peel
  • large ice cube

Instructions

  • Add two sugar cubes, or more if you like it sweet, to serving glass. Add 2-4 drops of bitters.
  • Add a slice of orange and muddle everything together until the sugar cube has dissolved.
  • Add bourbon/whiskey/rye. Rub orange peel around rim of serving glass to get orange oils and fragrance to release. Drop in orange peel and stir contents of drink together.
  • Add ice. Stir until chilled. Enjoy.
