Passion Fruit Juice

Passion fruit juice is pleasantly tart and super refreshing. Similar to lemonade, this drink is made by combining fruit juice with water and sweetener.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup filtered water
  • ¾ cup passion fruit puree*
  • ¼ cup simple syrup*

Simple Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  • Pour filtered water, passion fruit puree, and sweetener into a pitcher. Stir to combine.
  • Serve chilled over ice. Garnish with passion fruit seeds. Enjoy immediately.
    *adjust sweetness to taste.

Simple Syrup:

  • Add water and sugar to a small sauce pot. Set over medium heat. Cook until sugar has dissolved.
  • Remove from heat. Cool to room temperature. Pour into a jar or container. Keep covered in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Definitions:
  • Passion Fruit Juice = mixture of fruit puree, water, and sweetener
  • Passion Fruit Puree = liquids that remain after seeds have been strained out
  • Passion Fruit Pulp = all the bits (liquids, seeds, and all) you can scoop out within the cut passion fruit. 
Ingredient Notes:
  • Passion fruits are ripe when the skin is wrinkly. 
  • Simple syrup can be made with any sugar of your choice: granulated sugar, brown sugar, or turbinado sugar. You may also choose to steep spices or herbs into simple syrup such as cinnamon stick or fresh mint leaves.
  • Other sweetener of choice such as agave syrup or honey may be used in place of simple syrup. 
Storage:
  • Keep leftover passion fruit juice in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days. The juice will separate over time. Stir or shake to bring juice back together.
  • Freeze passion fruit juice for longer storage. I suggest using an ice cube tray. Transfer frozen cubes to a freezer storage bag. Keep frozen for up to 6 months.
