Notes

  • If you cannot find blood orange, substitute in standard oranges:
    • Valencia oranges are best for juicing
    • Cara cara oranges are the sweetest
    • Navel oranges are the most commonly available
  • Tequila: recipe works best with blanco (white or silver) or gold
Pitcher Margarita (serves 12): Combine 24 oz silver tequila, 9 oz Cointreau, 12 oz blood orange juice, 6 oz lime juice, and 6 oz simple syrup. Cover and keep chilled in the fridge overnight. Don't push past 24 hours. Ideally, serve the mixed cocktail within 12 hours of mixing.
  • When ready to serve, pour over ice. Each serving should be 4.75 oz. It may taste strong at first. However, the ice will melt into the cocktail mellowing it out a bit.
