Overnight Cold Brewed Coffee

Making a big batch of cold brew coffee is easier than you think! No fancy equipment needed. Grab your favorite coffee beans and keep your fridge stocked with homemade cold brew coffee.

Ingredients

  • 3 quarts (12 cups) cool filtered water
  • 1 ½ cup rough grind coffee beans

Instructions

  • Pour three quarts (12 cups) of filtered water into a large container.
  • Optional: Warm up ground coffee in the microwave for 15-30 seconds to get the oils warmed up and the flavors to release.  
  • Add 1 ½ cups of ground coffee beans to water.  Stir to combine coffee grounds.
  • Cover container.  Let steep at room temperature for at least 12 hours and up to 48 hours.
  • Line strainer with coffee filters and place over large container.
  • Slowly pour coffee into prepared strainer-filter.  The coffee will pass at a slow stream.  If desired, change coffee filters as necessary.  Discard coffee grounds. Transfer cold brewed coffee to a pitcher and keep chilled in the fridge until ready to use.

Notes

Storage:

  • Cold brew keeps in the fridge for up to a week. 

Serving Suggestions:

  • Iced Coffee Latte: Mix 6 oz overnight cold brew coffee with 1 oz simple syrup and 3 oz milk/cream/half & half. Add ice and enjoy immediately.
  • Black Iced Coffee: Fill serving glass with ice. Pour 5 oz overnight cold brew coffee with 1 oz water.
