Raspberry tequila sunrise is a fresh spin on the classic cocktail. This version uses fresh raspberries and agave syrup in place of grenadine. Raspberry Tequila Cocktail Tequila Sunrise (orange juice, grenadine, and tequila) was the first drink my dad taught me how to make. This is my modern version of the drink with a fresh spin. I muddled the raspberries with a little agave syrup to replace grenadine. I like it a lot better because the berries bring a great pop of flavor and the drink is quite refreshing. Recommended Bar Tools Citrus Squeezer: Fresh juice does wonders! Use a squeezer to juice lemon, lime, and oranges. Mini Measure Shot Glass: The key to excellent well balanced cocktails is proper measurements! Don’t eyeball it. Take the time to measure out the liquid ingredients. Muddler: Easy mash and muddle soft fruits and herbs into cocktails using a sturdy muddler. Tequila Options for Cocktails Tequila ranges in color from white (clear) to golden tan. The color is a key clue into the tequila’s age and whether it has been aged in wooden casks. This tequila sunrise recipe works best with blanco (white or silver) tequila. Blanco tequila will give the brightest red hued cocktail. Gold, resposado (“rested”), and anejo (“aged”) tequila are darker in color ranging from light caramel to chocolate in appearance. These aged tequilas often have softer agave flavor and more intense wood or oak notes. Let’s Make Raspberry Tequila Sunrise! Gather all the ingredients 5 raspberries (or a handful) 1 1/2 tsp agave syrup 1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice 2 Tbsp fresh squeezed lime juice 2 oz (2 shot glasses) tequila ice cubes Place raspberries and agave syrup in a glass. Use at least 5 fresh raspberries, but add as much as you’d like! Muddle together. Add fresh squeezed orange juice. Fresh squeezed juice is not optional. Do not use bottled or juice from concentration. It just doesn’t taste as good. Add fresh squeezed lime juice. Follow with 2 shots of tequila (of your choice). Stir contents together. Fill with ice. Garnish with extra raspberries. Voilà. You are ready to enjoy a raspberry tequila sunrise. Cheers!
