I read somewhere that the average person weighs the least on Friday and the most on Monday. As I’m thinking about everything I ate over the weekend, I believe that statement to be true for me.

As such, I love making green smoothies every Monday morning. This tropical green smoothie is perfect all year round. It’ll perk you up on those dreary grey winters, give you hope during rainy springs, and taste like sunshine all summer long!

Ingredients

Hearty, refreshing, and so easy to make. Smoothies require little time and prep. You need three components: greens, fruit, and liquid.

Any fresh leafy green will do! I highly recommend spinach, especially baby spinach because of its mild flavor. Other options include: baby kale, Swiss chard, or collards.

I opt for frozen fruits because they are picked at their peak and can last months in my freezer. Frozen fruits will make your smoothie thicker and creamier. Fresh fruits work just as well. However, the resulting smoothie will be thinner in texture.

Bananas are a staple in my kitchen, they always have a spot on the counter. Fresh or frozen bananas work.

More than 3 fruits will taste muddled and unrecognizable.ย For best results, choose up to THREE fruits:

  • Banana
  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Papaya (Hawaiian or Mexican varieties)
  • Passion Fruit
  • Guava
  • Dragon Fruit (pitaya)

My kitchen is always stocked with coconut water. It’s a great post-workout drink rich in electrolytes. It a great alternative to sweet fruit juices (like apple juice or pineapple juice) or sports drinks.

Blending Instructions

Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Process until smooth! That’s it.

Adjust the balance of greens, fruits, and consistency based on your preferences. Add more or less greens, switch up the fruits, or play with the amount of liquid to make the smoothie looser or creamier.

For extra nutrients, add chia seeds, flaxseeds, or hemp hearts. Or, try a blend such as this superseed mixture.

I made it as directed. It was delicious and refreshing. It made 2 servings, so the 2nd serving is waiting in the fridge to be devoured as an afternoon snack. I canโ€™t wait! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I make a really similar smoothie but I use white grape juice in place of the coconut water. What area of the grocery to you find your coconut water? Now I have to try it! :)

Hi Annie! Hmm, I’ve never tried white grape juice. I gotta check that out! Coconut water is usually stocked with the juices, sometimes near sports drinks. It’s super hydrating and tastes delicious ice cold.

I totally had one of these today except substitute the mango for one orange sweet bell pepper, substitute coconut water with coconut oil, plus almonds, and plus dried cranberries. Does this count as one more thing we can add to our “like” list?

I’ve never made smoothies with coconut oil. Does it blend well? And YES, add green smoothies to the list!

I want this for a snack today! I’m going to pin this beauty on my smoothies board. I happen to have a ripe mango sitting in my fridge! This looks so delicious! I also love the little banana slice garnish -too cute!

It makes for a great snack or pick-me-up! I’ve been trying to cut back on my afternoon coffee by replacing it with smoothies :)
